Freetown Friends offers a preschool curriculum for children ages 18 months to 3 years. Our classroom is filled with safe, age-appropriate games, books, art supplies and other learning tools. We also have an extensive outdoor play area with numerous ride-on toys, swings, slides and play houses.

Daily Activities

We begin our day with a small manipulative activity, including puzzles, play dough, lacing and similar games to enhance fine motor skills. When all children have arrived for the day, we gather for circle time. Circle time includes a welcome song, other songs and finger plays, books and calendar time. We then move on to snack time. Afterwards, we jump into various art projects where we paint, glue and cut, and learn to use stickers, markers and other materials. We also do a great deal of singing, dancing, dress-up and, when weather permits, outdoor play.
A sample morning schedule may include the following:
8:45 - 9:30 Table activity and supervised free play
  9:30 - 10:00 Circle time
10:00 - 10:45 Snack time and art project
10:45 - 11:45 Music and movement, outdoor play when possible

For an extra fee, there is also an optional "lunch bunch" from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM. This is offered on select days for parents who are interested, and each child is expected to bring his or her own lunch.

Discipline is always done through encouraging good behavior. There is never any yelling or any form of corporal punishment. If a child misbehaves, he will be guided away from the other children and reminded of our school rules. If the misbehavior continues, the child may sit away from the other children or be held in the teacher's lap until he is ready to play appropriately.
